Richard Shinder

Richard Shinder is a managing director and head of restructuring and special situations at Piper Jaffray, focused on financial restructuring and capital advisory and based in the firm’s New York office.

Shinder has more than 25 years of experience in restructuring advisory, distressed investing, financing, and capital and M&A advisory. Prior to joining Piper Jaffray in 2016, Shinder was a managing director with TSL Advisers, an affiliate of TPG Special Situations Partners, where he focused on providing capital solutions to financially distressed companies. Previously, Shinder was a partner in the restructuring advisory group of Perella Weinberg Partners. Prior to that, he held senior investment banking and investing positions with Goldman Sachs, Avenue Capital, Merrill Lynch, The Blackstone Group and Lehman Brothers.

Shinder holds a Master of Business Administration degree with distinction from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Gonzaga University, where he graduated summa cum laude.
