Piper Jaffray recognized by 2020 Women on Boards for seventh consecutive year



Piper Jaffray (NYSE: PJC), a leading investment bank and asset management firm, today announced that it has received the “W” Company award for its seventh consecutive year from the 2020 Women on Boards organization. This award is presented to companies that are committed to board diversity and have at least 20% women on their board of directors.

Piper Jaffray is one of 1,151 organizations nationally recognized as a “W” Company. Currently, two of the firm’s 10 board members are women – B. Kristine Johnson, president of Affinity Capital Management and Sherry Smith, former chief financial officer of SUPERVALU INC.

“Diversity of thought is essential to good corporate governance,” according to the 2020 Women on Boards website, “Corporate boards of directors should reflect company stakeholders: their customers, employees, and shareholders.”

2020 Women on Boards is a national campaign to increase the percentage of women directors on U.S. company boards to 20% or greater by 2020. Campaign supporters include individuals, organizations and companies that embrace the principle that diversity in the boardroom encourages good corporate decision-making.
