Peter Stettler

Peter Stettler is an award-winning analyst and brings over 20 years of experience in credit research and consulting to Piper Jaffray’s strategic analytics group where he supports the firm’s sales and public finance efforts by focusing on general credit issues affecting the market. Prior to joining Piper Jaffray, Stettler worked in the municipal research department of two investment banks, BMO Capital Markets GKST, Inc. and EVEREN Securities, Inc.; the tax-supported and transportation groups at Fitch Ratings, where he co-led the airports rating team and served on the criteria committee; and the finance practice of Ricondo & Associates, Inc., a leading provider of feasibility studies and other financial consulting to the nation’s airports.

Over the course of his career, Stettler has had the privilege of supporting the financing teams on transactions for the City of Chicago and the Chicago Board of Education and the advisory team supporting the successful bidding consortium for the terminal concession at Billy Bishop Toronto City Centre Airport; leading development of feasibility studies JFK International Airport Terminal, LLC (operator of Terminal 4 at JFK International Airport), the City of Chicago – Chicago Midway International Airport, and the Metropolitan Nashville Airport Authority (Nashville International Airport); and serving as a rating analyst for major credits including Atlanta Hartsfield – Jackson, Chicago O’Hare and Dallas / Fort Worth International Airports, the ports of Virginia, Long Beach and Canaveral, the Illinois Tollway, the cities of Chicago, Detroit and Milwaukee; the counties of Cook (IL), Milwaukee (WI) and Dane (WI), and special districts including the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago (IL).

Stettler is a frequent speaker at industry conferences and has been recognized for his coverage of important industry issues as a recipient of the Award of Excellence from the National Federation of Municipal Analysts (NFMA) and being named as a Second Team All-American Analyst – Airports by Smith’s Ratings and Research Review 10 times. Stettler served on the boards of the NFMA and the Chicago Municipal Analyst Society, and has been active in various industry groups including the finance committee of Airports Council International – North America and the lease task force for the Governmental Accounting Standards Board. Stettler holds a master’s degree in public administration – urban management and bachelor’s degree in political science degrees from Northern Illinois University.
