Michael Barry

Kalan MacGinley has more than a decade of experience in a strategic advisory role serving a wide range of financial services clients including depository, specialty finance, REIT/BDC and insurance brokerage companies. He has completed numerous equity, debt, convertible and hybrid transactions, both public and private. He has also advised on mergers & acquisitions and restructuring/recapitalizations transactions, including associated divestitures, securitizations and asset sales. MacGinley is focused on covering financial services clients in the western U.S. and select international markets.

Prior to joining Piper Jaffray in 2016 to head its western U.S. business, MacGinley managed the Macquarie Capital western U.S. financial services practice, having opened the practice for Fox-Pitt Kelton prior to the Macquarie acquisition. Before Macquarie, MacGinley was a director at RBC Capital Markets where he played a key role in the building of the company's FIG investment banking practice while covering international and western U.S. financial services companies. MacGinley’s FIG experience began with FleetBoston (Bank of America) in the corporate strategy and development group, where he was involved in various depository and fee-based business mergers, acquisitions & divestures transactions, including the ultimate sale. Prior to joining FleetBoston, MacGinley worked with Booz Allen Hamilton in the commercial consulting group. MacGinley began his career at Schlumberger (W&T), followed by time with PM Group.

MacGinley completed his undergraduate engineering degree at University College Dublin, received a master’s degree in chemical engineering from the University of Missouri and a Master of Business Administration degree from Carnegie Mellon University.
