Robert Hutchinson

Robert Hutchinson has more than 20 years of experience advising depositories on mergers and acquisitions, equity offerings, trust preferred offerings and mutual to stock conversions. He has advised on over 55 announced M&A transactions and 85 capital offerings, totaling $25 billion in deal value. Hutchinson joined Piper Jaffray in 2015.

Prior to joining Piper Jaffray, Hutchinson was a managing director with Sterne Agee and served in a number of leadership capacities, including head of depository investment banking and head of the northeast region. Prior to joining Sterne Agee in 2009, he was a managing director with Keefe, Bruyette and Woods (“KBW”), where he spearheaded its Boston corporate finance practice. While at KBW in 2006, Hutchinson brought in the first mortgage REIT deal to the firm, establishing a new line of business for KBW. Hutchinson was formerly an associate for RBC Capital Markets, where he focused in an investment banking capacity on financial institutions, including leasing companies, specialty lenders, mortgage REITs, equity REITs and traditional banks and thrifts. Hutchinson served four years as an officer in the United States Marine Corps.

Hutchinson received his Master of Business Administration degree from Fisher College of Business at The Ohio State University and a bachelor’s degree from Boston College.
