Dick Schober has more than 28 years of experience both as an underwriter and as a financial advisor. The majority of his work experience has been with issuers in Washington State although he has also worked with municipal governments in Oregon, California, Alaska and Arizona. His banking and advisory experience is broad ranging and includes having served as senior banker or advisor on transactions for ports, transportation agencies, universities and colleges, cities, public power utilities, school districts, counties, water and sewer districts, not-for-profits and assessment districts. He offers a full range of public finance skills to his municipal clients, including debt structuring, credit strategy and rating agency coordination, derivative and structured products experience, variable rate products experience and public-private partnership development. In August of 2015, Schober, while working for Sound Transit, structured and closed a $940 million transaction which what was at that time the largest municipal “Green Bond” ever completed. Schober has also completed two loan transactions totaling more than $3.3 billion through the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Transportation Infrastructure Finance and Innovation Act (TIFIA) program including the first ever Master Credit Agreement.

In addition to his work with clients, Schober is also head of Pacific Northwest public finance for Piper Jaffray. In this capacity, he manages regional offices in Seattle, Portland and Boise and serves on the operating committee of the firm’s public finance department.

Prior to joining Piper Jaffray, Seattle Northwest Division, Schober was a vice president and senior investment banker in Goldman Sachs and Co.’s public sector and infrastructure banking group. He started his career with Harper, McLean & Co., where he attained the position of vice president in its Seattle public finance group.

Schober earned a bachelor’s degree from Washington State University.
