Matt Hemsley

Matt Hemsley is a managing director in the Piper Jaffray healthcare investment banking group.

Hemsley has more than a dozen years of client service experience. He joined Piper Jaffray from McKinsey & Company, a global strategy and management consulting firm, where he was an engagement manager on both strategic and operational projects. Hemsley started his career in the mergers and acquisitions group at Goldman Sachs & Company in New York. At Piper Jaffray, Hemsley's experience has covered both strategic advisory and financings for healthcare companies in the pharma, medtech and healthcare service sectors.

Hemsley serves as chairman of the Heartland Summit for Piper Jaffray, one of the most significant annual gatherings of healthcare CEOs, leaders and policymakers in the world.

Hemsley graduated magna cum laude and elected Phi Beta Kappa from Georgetown University with a bachelor’s degree in economics; he holds a master’s degree with distinction in economic history from the University of Oxford, Magdalen College; and he received his Master of Business Administration degree from Stanford University.

Hemsley serves on the board of directors of North Dakota LNG, Inc., the Piper Jaffray Foundation and the Guthrie Theatre in Minneapolis, and is a former board member of the Stanford Business School Fund and the Greater Twin Cities United Way.
