MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. — Jan. 3, 2007—Piper Jaffray announces today it has added the industrial growth sector to its investment research capabilities. The firm currently covers companies in the technology, health care, financial, consumer, alternative energy, business services and now industrial growth sectors.

Senior research analyst Michael Cox and team will transition from the consumer sector to the industrial growth sector. Cox currently covers hardline retail companies, which includes some distribution companies. The team will be expanding coverage in the industrial growth sector in the first quarter of 2007.

“We view the industrial growth sector as an excellent opportunity to expand our research offerings and Michael Cox is well positioned to deliver this expertise to our clients,” said Joel Denney, head of Investment Research at Piper Jaffray. “We look forward to providing proprietary research analysis in this important sector for our clients.”

Cox has been at Piper Jaffray since 2003. He previously worked in equity research at RBC Capital Markets in Minneapolis and Edward Jones in St. Louis, Mo. He has a bachelor's degree in finance from Iowa State University and a master's degree in business administration from the Carlson School of Management at the University of Minnesota. Cox holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation.
