NEW YORK — Nov. 22, 2006—John Butler has joined Piper Jaffray & Co. as a principal on the Financial Institutions Investment Banking team. Butler will work with managing director Michael Gebo in the firm's New York office and will focus on insurance within financial institutions sector.

“We look forward to the continued expansion of our financial institutions group with the addition of John,” said Jon Salveson, head of Investment Banking at Piper Jaffray. “His extensive knowledge and expertise in the insurance business is a welcome addition as we expand the services and capabilities we bring to our clients.”

Butler joins the firm from Houlihan Lokey Howard & Zukin in New York, where he was in the financial institutions group. Prior to that, he worked in the financial institutions group at Fox-Pitt, Kelton in New York. Butler is an honors graduate of Georgetown University and was awarded a Juris Doctor degree from Fordham University School of Law.
